Eigenvalues and eigenvectors

This topic applies to square matrices and the corresponding linear transformations, or to linear transformations $T: V\rightarrow V$ (rather than the more general case $T:V\rightarrow W$). We'll work with $2 \times 2$ matrix transformations for now.
