TITLE: SAGE -- Free Mathematics Software for Algebra, Geometry, Number, and more.

ABSTRACT: I will give an introductory colloquium-style talk about SAGE, which is free open source mathematics software. SAGE supports research and teaching in algebra, geometry, number theory, cryptography, numerical computation, and related areas. Both the SAGE development model and the technology in SAGE itself is distinguished by an extremely strong emphasis on openness, community, cooperation, and collaboration: we are building the car, not reinventing the wheel. Our goal is to create a viable free open source alternative to Maple, Mathematica, Magma, and MATLAB.

During my talk I will give examples of SAGE usage that are relevant to my project to verify the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture for all curves in "Cremona's Book" (except the 18 of rank 2).
