I am an associate professor in mathematics at UCLA. I develop mathematical models for problems coming from physics and biology. My particular research interests include biological transport networks; fungal mycelia and the microvascular system, how organisms manage internal genetic diversity and design and optimization of inertial microfluidic devices. Although the projects that I work on are often experimentally inspired, our goal is to develop new image analysis methods, computational and asymptotic math, as well as to gain a better understanding of the world around us.

My work is currently funded by a fellowship from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and by the NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences through grants DMS-1312543 and DMS-1351860.
