Erin George

A picture of Erin

I am a sixth-year PhD student in applied mathematics at UCLA, and a recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. My advisor is Deanna Needell. Prior to this, I was an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I received degrees in mathematics and computer science with a minor in linguistics.

You can reach me at ----@math.ucla.edu by replacing ---- with egeo.

My pronouns are they/them. I prefer my first name ("Erin") used instead of a title (Ms., Mr., Mx., etc.).

Research

My main research interest is machine learning, particularly in regards to theory and issues of bias and fairness.

In the Fall 2023 semester, I was at Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute in the Algorithms, Fairness, and Equity program.

Classes

I am currently not teaching any classes. You can see my teaching page for my web pages for previous courses.

Other

If needed, here is my PGP public key.

A colored pencil drawing of Erin. It's very good!

Another picture of me, drawn by the very talented Wes Wise.
