- Testing
-
Weekly homework due every Friday in class - see details below.
1st midterm: Monday, October 21, in class.
2nd midterm: Monday, November 18, in class.
Final exam: Saturday, December 7, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm, in MS 5147 (Lec.4) and MS 5117 (Lec.5).
- Missed it?
-
If you miss an exam or a homework deadline, don't worry! The system is flexible: You can miss two homework without consequences. Also, if you miss one midterm, your final will simply weigh more. Things happen - I understand. However, instead of giving make-up exams, I build in some flexibility in the grading scheme. So, you don't need to come and tell me what happened because
there will be NO MAKE-UP AT ALL, under no circumstances, neither for homework, nor for the midterms, nor for the final exam.
- Grading
-
Homework will simply record regularity of your work, independently of the quality. So, do not waste your time copying other people's work! Returning 8 out of the 10 weekly homework gives you full HW score.
Midterms count for 15% each. However, if you do better on the final than on one of the midterms, your lowest midterm grade is dropped and the final counts 75% instead of 60%.
In short, your overall final grade will be the best of the following two variants:
- 10% homework + 30% for both midterms + 60% final.
- 10% homework + 15% best midterm + 75% final.
Regrades on midterms must be requested upon reception of your copy, no later than two weeks after the exam date. After this time, no requests for corrections will be honored.
