Assignment #7 [corrected]

Reading: Chapter 9.

Demo to try: On the Math 149 web page www.math.ucla.edu/~baker/149/ select ``Splines, Lagrange, etc.'' and then ``Lagrange and spline together''. For Lagrange, click on ``add point'' so both curves have six data points.

By clicking on a data point and holding the mouse button down, you can then drag the point and the curve will change. Drag the data points of both curves in similar ways and see how the curves behave when data points are similarly placed for both. Notice that for Lagrange, moving a data point near one end can have a noticeable effect near the other end, but not for the spline curve.

(Be careful not to drag a point outside of its window; or you'll have to start over--the program doesn't check for that.)
