Reading: Look through Chapter 1. Read Chapters 2 and 3.

Each week, some problems will be designated as ``to do but not hand in''. Try them for practice and ask questions about them in discussion section if you wish.

To do but not hand in:

§2A, pp. 11-12: Ex's 1, 7, 14;

§2B, p. 15: Ex's 2, 3.

To hand in:

§2A, pp. 11-12: Ex's 2, 4, 13 (see suggestion in the back of the book);

§2C, p. 18: Ex. 2;

§19A, p. 296: Ex. 3.

To keep papers from getting mixed up, please fold your paper lengthwise and put your name and the assignment number on the outside.
