The Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) runs a unique summer program for undergraduate students. The Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS) provides an opportunity for exceptional students in math and related disciplines to work in teams on real world research projects proposed by a sponsor from industry or a national lab. Sponsors have included Pixar, Microsoft, Symantec, Los Alamos, the Aerospace Corporation, Amgen, Arete, IBM, Standard & Poor's, Jet Propulsion Lab, and many others.

Fall Travel Grants
Applications due Monday, November 3, 2014
Funded through donations from friends and supporters of the Center for the Study of Women, travel grants assist graduate and undergraduate UCLA students with air and ground transportation expenses related to research on women, gender, and sexuality, including transportation for academic or professional conference presentation.
Maximum award is $400.
Michelle Castellanos, a Ph.D. Candidate, is currently conducting a study how Latina/o college students experience college and navigate the career decision-making process as part of her dissertation. Her aim in conducting this research is to help inform university policies and program on how to best support Latina/os in achieving their career goals; however, such work would not be possible without the help and support of students like you.
