The Science Libraries are excited to announce that starting Winter 2019, SEL/Boelter will host a satellite of the Undergraduate Writing Center (UWC) in our STEM Collaborative Learning Center (CLC). The UWC serves a large number of STEM students, with no current service point on south campus. The UWC will enhance the other peer-to-peer offerings in our STEM CLC, where we currently host Learning Assistant drop-in tutoring and workshops, along with open collaborative study. Since piloting the Learning Assistant program, our space has seen an approximately 20% increase in usage, with over 12,000 students last year receiving tutoring assistance for their STEM courses. We hope the UWC will be a natural addition to the services and collaboration already happening in the space, as well increase referrals to librarians for research consultations.
