Eligibility Requirements
Open to graduate and undergraduate students. Grades should be above average. For applicants studying geophysics or a closely related field. 2 faculty letters of recommendation. Transcripts. Essay. Career path. Related coursework. List of internships, honors, and awards.

Stipends range from $500 to $14,000. Average amount of awards is $2,500.


Program Description
Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) awards scholarships to 43 promising graduate students or postdoctoral scholars in geophysics or a related field. Half of the scholarships welcome applicants from all geophysics-related areas, while the rest have specific donor intentions. Students fill out one application and may be matched with available scholarships. The number of scholarship available depends chiefly upon the number of sponsors and the amounts they contribute. Applicants are notified of results in May.
