PRIME is a quarterly magazine under the Daily Bruin that covers a wide array of topics related to UCLA and Westwood such as homelessness, student drug dependency, hardships in obtaining VISAs and the 'can I ask you a question' guy on Bruinwalk. Our stories typically require in-depth reporting and strong writing to produce engaging pieces of journalism. If you're interested in pursuing a career in journalism or writing, PRIME is a great place to get clips-- contributors to the magazine have gone on to work for Variety, Bloomberg, The Hollywood Reporter, Yahoo Finance and Los Angeles Magazine.
Writers have come from all majors-- in fact, all three of the magazine editors are south campus students. There are opportunities to report long form articles about science and health issues at UCLA.
If you have a knack for storytelling and a drive to uncover problems in our community, please apply to our award winning magazine! Some reporting and writing training will be provided but applicants should be familiar with long form writing.
