JOB DESCRIPTION: Full-Time Research Assistant
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as our full-time research assistant for a period of at least one year. The appointment would start in June 2014. The job will entail close collaboration on a number of new and ongoing empirical projects in the fields of economic geography/urban economics, macroeconomics and consumer finance.
This position offers the opportunity to gain exposure and training to a broad set of economic research topics and methodologies before pursuing a PhD in economics. The chosen candidate will also gain valuable experience analyzing large data sets.
The ideal candidate will: (i) have completed a 4 year undergraduate degree in Economics from a top ranked college or university (ii) have a strong quantitative background; (iii) have computer skills including programming, especially in Stata; (iv) be able to work independently to solve problems; and (v) have a long-term interest in pursuing research in economics.
The Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics (FCREUE) is an internationally renowned research center at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. The mission of FCREUE is to educate students and real estate professionals, to support and conduct cutting-edge research on real estate, urban economics, and the California State economy, and share findings and expertise with academics, business, government, and the general public.
