Information Management Fellowship with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

An opportunity is available at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) in College Park, Maryland.
This project involves training an intern to observe the development and implementation of an existing repository of scientific information essential to the work of the review scientists in the Office of Food Additive Safety. The repository includes chemical, toxicological, and other scientific data, as well as regulatory information.
The learning objectives of this appointment are as follows:
- The candidate will receive training on regulatory information management initiatives, observing various databases and applications (e.g., Food Applications Regulatory Management, SharePoint, Global Substance Registration System), and will learn the optimization of information management for different types of regulatory and scientific information. The candidate will lean how to organize, manage, analyze, and perform quality control on databases, and how to summarize findings of analyses.
- The candidate will observe meetings to learn how to brainstorm ideas for projects and how to create oral presentations. Additionally, the candidate will observe and learn how these ideas are applied to the overall goals of the Office of Food Additive Safety.
The qualified candidate must have received a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Management Systems. Degree must have been received within five years of the appointment start date.
