Fellowship Opportunities for UCLA Undergraduate Researchers

Undergraduate Research Center—Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences

Applications are now being accepted for the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellows (MMUF) Program and the Undergraduate Research Fellows Program (URFP). The application deadline for both programs is November 15th.


The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) supports third-year undergraduates and transfers interested in pursuing a Ph.D in the humanities, arts, or humanistic social sciences. The chief goal of the program is to diversify the professoriate and eradicate racial disparities in higher education. Mellon Mays Fellows receive quarterly stipends over the course of the two-year program. They work closely with faculty advisers and graduate mentors to design and carry out an independent research project and prepare for graduate school. Students must apply by November 15th at 11:59pm. The Undergraduate Research Fellows Program (URFP) supports students in any field doing entry-level research for winter and spring quarters (SRP 99 or departmental research courses, i.e. 199/198/196). URFP fellows receive a $2000 scholarship and enroll in Honors 101A: Student Research Forum during the winter quarter. Applications must be submitted by November 15th at 11:59pm.
