Please note that the Center for Community Learning does NOT place students in internships. The Career Center handles application advice and maintains an up-to-date database of opportunities. The Center for Community Learning handles 195CE internship courses.
The Center for Community Learning will be enrolling juniors and seniors for 195CE internship courses from August 11 – August 29 and September 30 – October 17—or until courses fill. Please note the intersession break between the end of the 10-week Summer Session A and the beginning of Week 0 of Fall Quarter. Students typically work 8-10 hours per week at an approved off-campus organization (corporate, non-profit, or government agency). Students earn academic credit by applying their academic skills to analyze their work in the community through specially tailored writing assignments and meetings with graduate student coordinators. The following courses are offered for FOUR UNITS (letter grade OR pass/no pass):
COURSES OPEN TO ALL MAJORS/MINORS
Education (site must be related to education)
M195CE – Multi-listed course offered in the following subject areas: American Indian Studies, African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Gender Studies
Disability Studies – site must be related to disability studies
Society & Genetics – open to Human Biology and Society majors only
Civic Engagement – open to Civic Engagement Minors & Astin Scholars only (Letter Grade ONLY)
Eligibility Requirements: Students must have junior standing (at least 90 units completed) and must be in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA.
