The UCLA Volunteer Center coordinates service activities on-campus and throughout greater Los Angeles to inspire members of the extended UCLA family to give of their time and talent. Through the Center, students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members can participate in ongoing and annual service opportunities, suggest volunteer site locations, and lead service projects. The Center also maintains an online listing of campus-wide service groups, and a volunteer database of community service opportunities.
We have three great service opportunities available now: Project SPELL tutoring, Volunteer Center Fellows applications, and One Bus, One Cause projects. Read more and apply by the deadlines listed below.
Do you have a passion for languages? Are you interested in volunteering on campus but don’t know how to get started? Join Project SPELL! Project SPELL, or Students for Progress in Employee Language Learning, is a Volunteer Center program that matches a UCLA student with an employee on campus who is looking to improve his or her English and computer literacy skills through 1-1 tutoring. Tutor applications are due Friday of Week 1 (April 7) for spring quarter tutoring.
Recruiting Volunteer Center Fellows for 2017-2018
Helping 500,000 Bruins create social change through service takes teamwork! That is why the Center relies on strong collaboration between staff and students. The Volunteer Center Fellows are an integral part of this collaboration, serving as a student advisory board that increases the accessibility of civic engagement opportunities. Fellows create and promote unique resources, support systems, and projects for the UCLA community. Participating students receive a scholarship of $1,000. Apply by Friday, April 7 to be considered.
Spring One Bus, One Cause Service Projects
Join us next quarter on the Spring One Bus, One Cause projects! One Bus, One Cause visits a unique site with each trip in order to introduce volunteers to many causes and organizations, and also to complete vital service work in support of the Center’s community partners. Students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and friends are encouraged to attend! Transportation from campus and food are provided. New projects will be added in April.
