The NSF Mathematics Institutes will be hosting their annual SACNAS pre-conference event, the “2016 Modern Math Workshop,” from October 12-13, 2016 in the Long Beach Convention Center. The workshop is designed to encourage minority undergraduates to pursue careers in the mathematical sciences and to assist undergraduates, graduate students and recent PhDs in building their research networks. The workshop will include two concurrent mini-courses for undergraduate students and a series of expository talks related to the research programs at the math institutes for graduate students and early career professionals. The workshop begins with check-in/registration at noon on Wednesday, October 12 and ends at noon on Thursday, October 13.
