What's New at Penn GSE?

Application Updates

The doctoral application process has completed for Fall 2016 admission. Fall 2017 applications are now open and will be due in December 2016.


Applications are currently available for our master's programs and will remain open until the programs reach capacity (for rolling programs) or until the stated application deadlines. Admission decisions are typically returned 6 to 8 weeks after the file is completed or after the deadline.


Application Fee After March 15

$75 non-refundable application fee will be charged for all applications submitted after March 15th. Remember, you can submit the online application form before your supplemental materials arrive. We encourage you to click "submit" today!


Penn GSE Program Spotlight:Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development

The Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development (ISHD) program combines the study of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical aspects of human development across the lifespan and explores them within cultural contexts and in relation to social policies.


Students in the ISHD program come from diverse fields including psychology, anthropology, marketing, education, human development, and social work. Recent alumni have gone on to careers in research, teaching, therapy, consulting, education policy, psychological services in K-12 and higher education, to name a few.


Prominent faculty in ISHD include Dr. Howard Stevenson (African-American psychology, racial literacy), Dr. Dan Wagner (education in developing countries, literacy development), and Dr. Xinyin Chen(children’s socioemotional development, peer relationships).

ISHD offers both M.S.Ed. and Ph.D. options.
