3 Math Faculty on Thomson Reuters ‘most cited’ list for influential scholarship

Twenty-nine UCLA faculty members are among the most influential scientists in their fields for 2015, as determined by Thomson Reuters.

The media organization’s latest Highly Cited Researchers list names nearly 3,000 scientists from around the world whose studies were among the top 1 percent most referenced in academic journals from 2003 to 2013. (Read more about the rankings methodology.)

In terms of number of faculty named, UCLA ranks 10th among all universities and research institutions worldwide and sixth in the U.S. Those who were recognized represented a broad cross-section of campus units, including medicine, biological sciences, physical sciences, public health and engineering.

“By any measure, UCLA is among the world’s leading research institutions, thanks to the innovation, creativity and collaborative spirit of our faculty,” said Ann Karagozian, interim vice chancellor for research. “Every day, UCLA researchers advance discoveries that can benefit humankind by pursuing difficult technical and societal challenges, advancing medical care and powering the economy.”
