The Department has received $1 million from mathematics professor emeritus V.S. Varadarajan and his wife, Veda, to establish the Ramanujan Visiting Professorship.
In the 2018 Putnam Mathematical Competition, the UCLA team (Ciprian-Mircea Bonciocat, Xiaoyu Huang, Konstantin Miagkov) was ranked #3 out of 568 institutions. This is the best result in UCLA’s history, matching the performances in 1968 and 2012.
