UCLA Putnam team places 5th
In the 2017 Putnam Mathematical Competition, the UCLA team (Xiaoyu Huang, Konstantin Miagkov, Ni Yan) was ranked #5 out of 575 institutions.
Individually, five students from UCLA received Honorable Mentions, being ranked in the top 100 overall: Emre Girgin, Alexandru Pascadi, Ni Yan, Konstantin Miagkov and Xiaoyu Huang. Other top scorers from UCLA were Ruizhe Jia, Ken Willyard, Junfu Chen, Osman Akar, Anshul Adve, Yicheng Duan, Bryan Hu, Eric Wang and Ranze Xie. A total of 35 UCLA students participated.
Ni Yan received the Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prize for the top-scoring woman in the competition.
