Current position and research

I am an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Department of Mathematics of UCLA in Los Angeles in the group of Andrea Bertozzi. My current research interests are in variational methods and their application to science and technology ---in particular pattern formation, materials science, and image analysis--- as well as in the translation of nonlinear partial differential equations to equations on graphs, and applications of such equations in image and data analysis.

Nieuw Archief voor Wiskunde

From September 2005 until September 2008 I was news and agenda editor for the Nieuw Archief voor Wiskunde, which is the periodical of the Koninklijk Wiskundig Genootschap. In this capacity I was responsible for and wrote the majority of the content of the agenda and news items which appeared in the magazine. Back issues including the agenda and news sections can be found here. Direct links to the news sections: In addition to this, I also wrote an article for the magazine about the mathematical content of the Lowlands festival in 2007:
