Homework/Quizzes

Homework will be posted once a week on the class webpage and will be due at the beginning of the lecture on the following Friday in lecture. Your homework must include full solutions. Answers alone will receive no credit. Please clearly enumerate the problems and box or highlight the answer. All homeworks need to have the following information:

No late homework will be accepted.

There will also be a few quizzes during discussion sections. Each quiz will consist of one problem from any material covered by the previous week, and it will be announced one week before.

Each quiz is counted as an assignment of homework. Naturally, Quizzes can only be taken in the section you are assigned; in particular if you miss your Tuesday quiz you cannot take the Thursday quiz (If you originally register for a Tuesday section but have a regular class conflict that forces you to take quizzes on Thursday for the entire quarter, or vice-versa, that is fine, but let me know at the beginning of the quarter).

Your two lowest scores (homework and quizzes together) will be dropped.

Exams

All sections are covered for the final. There will be no make-up exams . You must bring a photo ID with you to all exams.

Before exams are returned, I will take a random selection of exams to be copied. So when you come back for a regrade, make sure that you have not added anything later on the exam which was not there originally.

Materials

The textbook is clearly written and we will follow it closely. I expect everyone to read it before and/or after the lecture.

You may use whatever resources you wish to do the homework, including calculators, textbooks, friends, TAs, etc., However, you should give your own solution for final version. No notes, books, calculators or other electronic devices will be permitted during any of the exams and quizzes.

Grade policy

All Grades will be posted on MyUCLA You must take all exams in order to pass the class. Cutoffs for letter grades will be determined after the final exam.
