but the 29th lecture will be skipped.
Textbook: S. Friedberg, et al,
Linear Algebra, 4th Ed., Prentice Hall.
Homework: Homework should be handed in in the
first 10 minutes of the lecture on Friday. Late homework will
not be accepted, but lowest homework grade will be dropped.
You are encouraged to discuss the homework with other students
but each student must submit their own work.
Exams:
- Quizzes:
In the beginning of several
TA sessions there will be quizzes.
They will be announced in a TA session with
one week's notice. There will be no make up quizzes
but the lowest quiz score will be dropped.
- Midterms:
There will be two midterms held in lecture on
Fri Feb 1 and Fri Feb 29.
Make up midterms will not be held but the grading
scheme gives some relief to those who miss one
of the midterms.
- Final:
The final will be held on
Wednesday, March 19, 2008, 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM.
You can not complete
the course unless you take the final.
All exams will be closed book, closed notes and no
calculators will be allowed.
Grading:
There are two grading schemes used. For each student the
better one will be applied.
- Homework: 15%, Quizzes: 10%, Each midterm: 15%, Final: 45%, or
- Homework: 15%, Quizzes: 10%, The better midterm: 15%, Final: 60%.
Thus, if you miss one of the midterms,
only the other one will count and the final will weigh more.
