Discussion Sessions and TA: TA is Ben Krause. TA Sessions R 3-4.50. Students will present solutions to the homework assignments in the TA sessions. This will be integral part of the grading system.
Office hours: MW 4.30-5.30
Textbook: Stein-Shakartchi, Functional Analysis. We will use exercises and problems from this book. We tentatively plan to cover up to the 6 first chapters of this book
Prerequisites: All the material listed as relevant for the analysis part (and of lesser degree the other parts) of the Basic Examination of our PhD program, and some familiarity with the thrid volume in the Stein Shakartchi sequence.
Homework: Weekly assignments will be posted online. Late homework will not be accepted.
Examinations: There will be a Final examination (at time TBA during final's week).
Grading: The following is required to complete the course: Satisfactory results in homework assignments, a satisfactory presentation within discussion sessions, and a satisfactory result in the final exam.
