Stephen DeSalvo

Welcome to my UCLA homepage! I am an Assisant Adjunct Professor in the Mathematics department at UCLA. My email address is my first and last name at math.ucla.edu.

My research is on combinatorial probability, in particular random sampling and limit shapes of integer partitions. I keep a stable mathematics website hosted by google pages that has links to some of my papers, thesis, and research interests. Click this link to see my research website.

PIC Students: What to do before emailing me:

Reading emails is a time-consuming process, one that I am happy to do if the situation demands it. However, I receive a large number of inquiries regarding PTE numbers for the PIC courses, and this is beyond my control for the first two weeks of classes. Please go to the undergraduate office in MS 6356 for these kinds of questions.

If you do decide to send an email, please start the email with "Dear Professor DeSalvo" and include your name somewhere at the end (it is customary to add a sign-off of some form, like "Sincerely"; this is not necessary if you are enrolled in the class, I simply need to know who is writing the email). This serves two purposes: 1. this tells me I am the intended recipient, and 2. I know how to address any response email. Also please continue this template for all follow-up emails.

I have office hours Monday, Wednesday, noon-1pm and Friday in MS 6191 from 2:30-3:30pm for Spring 2013. Feel free to come to my office hours to ask questions.
