Grading:

The grading for this class will be divided as follows:

Homework:15%
Midterm 1:25%
Midterm 2:25%
Final Exam:35%

Homework:

Homework will be collected every Friday in class, and will be graded and returned to you the following week in discussion section. The assignments will be announced in class well in advance, and can also be found here. Your score on each homework assignment will be based on a few randomly chosen problems, as well as overall completion of the assignment. There will be a total of 10 assignments, and your lowest two scores will be dropped. Late homework will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Tests:

During the exams, you may not use notes, calculators, cell phones, or anything other than paper and pencil. There will be no make-ups for missed midterms. If you miss a midterm for a legitimate, documented reason, I will decide how to re-weight the remaining exam and homework grades. Make-ups for the final exam are permitted only under exceptional circumstances, as outlined in the UCLA student handbook. Please bring a photo ID to every exam. The exams are tentatively scheduled for:

Midterm 1:Wednesday, January 30th

Student Math Center (SMC):

The SMC is located in MS 3974 and offers group study and tutorials for lower division mathematics courses. It opens on January 9th and is available between 9AM-3PM on Monday through Thursday. See also http://www.math.ucla.edu/ugrad/smc.shtml.
