Math 3A is the first quarter of the "fast" calculus
sequence at UCLA. It aims to provide students with the fundamental ideas and
tools of calculus that will put them in a good position for understanding more
technical work in their own areas.
You may use your TI-83 or your TI-84 during this class .
Neuhauser, Calculus for Biology and Medicine, 3rd Ed., Prentice Hall. No other book is needed .
Our class meets 3 days per week , Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday
from 11:00 - 12:50 pm in MS 4000 . You will also meet
with your Teaching Assistant (TA) two times per week . Your meeting place and
time can be found in the table below. You will find these meetings very valuable
. Here you will have the chance, in smaller groups , to discuss questions with
your TA or to hear your TA clarify a lecture topic that you may not have
understood the first time.
I will be giving a quiz based on the homework assignment in discussion section, therefore it is important to attend each discussion. Make up quizzes will never be given.
Do not miss my class . Everyday , I will do something new , important and vital to your understanding of Mathematics.
