Title:The reducible case of Serre's Conjecture.

Abstract: 

Over a period of years J.P. Serre formulated
and made a conjecture concerning the modularity
of certain types of irreducible mod p representations of the absolute
Galois group of the rationals. I'll explain this
conjecture and the recent work of Khare-Wintenberger
and Khare. Also, I'll talk about recent joint
work with S. Hamblen concerning a version of the
conjecture for reducible mod p Galois representations.
