QUIST
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quantum devices for computing and communication are being designed to take advantage of the unique properties of quantum mechanical systems. For example, a quantum computation can in principle achieve massive parallelism by acting on the entire probabilistic range of the state of the system. The elementary element of a quantum system is a qubit, which may be implemented as the spin of a single electron in a quantum dot. Our work on quantum systems, as part of DARPA QUIST Program, is to perform modeling and simulation to help design a quantum system and the qubits in it. This work is joint with Eli Yablovitch (EE, UCLA), Hong-Wen Jiang (Physics, UCLA), Mark Gyure (HRL), Ed Croke (HRL) and others.
