Text: Linear Algebra, Third Edition, by Friedberg, Insel, and Spence

Material: Lectures will be based on material from Chapter 2 (Section 2.6), Chapter 5 (Sections 5.2 and 5.4), and Chapters 6 and 7. The student is expected to be familiar with the material from Chapters 1 through 5, except 1.7, 2.6, 2.7, 4.5, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4. (Such material is to be found in Math 33A and 115A).

Grading.
One midterm: 25 percent
Homework: 25 percent
Final: 50 percent

Midterms. Midterm: Monday, May 7
Final Exam: Tuesday, June 12, 8:00 am - 11:00 am

There will be no makeup exams for the course. If the midterm or a homework is missed for emergency reasons, see Professor White for a revised grading policy.

Homework will usually be assigned once a week on Wednesday and will be due on the following Wednesday. No late homework will be accepted.

Syllabus: The course will start with Sections 2.6 and 5.4 and then proceed through Chapters 6 and 7. The material in Section 6.1 and 6.2 should probably be familiar to those who have taken 115A. Weekly material and homework for the course will be listed under virtual office hours on the web site for the course. These two items will be updated weekly as the course progresses..
