The day and the exact coverage of each midterm exam depend on the progress in the course and will be announced in the lecture a week before the exam.
The final exam day and time cannot be changed.
No make-up exams under whatever circumstance.

Grading: Each midterm exam counts 20% of your grade, the homework counts 10% and the final exam counts 50%. The grading is on a curve. About 15% of students will receive A- or above, and about 35% will receive the grade between B- and B+.
A student who misses the two mid-term exams will be assigned the grade F.
A student who misses one of the two midterm exams should contact the instructor within a week from the exam
to arrange a conference (otherwise, the grade "F"  will be assugned)
A student who misses the final exam may receive an incomplete grade "I" provided he or she

(i) has taken and passed the two midterm exams,
(ii) has completed the homework at a passing level,
(iii) contacts the instructor on or before the day of the final exam to arrange a conference, and
(iv) presents documents explaining his or her circumstances (such as medical emergency).

If any one of the above four conditions is not met, the student who misses the final exam will be automatically assigned the grade " F".

Homework is assigned on each Friday (or earlier) by posting in the class web page, some of which will be explained in the following quiz session. The homework is due on Thursday in two weeks (not the Thursday following the Friday when the homework is assigned). Each student is required to submit homework to his/her TA in the Thursday TA session (indicated in the homework assignment). On the top of the front page of your homework set, print your last name followed by your first name and middle initial, and your student identification number. Also sign your full name underneath.
