Final Exam

Mathematics 117

The final exam covers everything from the first day to the last day.   That is, it covers the material for the first midterm, the material for the second midterm, and the recent material from Sections 14BC and the part of Chapter 15 concerning factorization in C[x] and R[x].   For the homework, it covers Problem Sets I-VII (i.e., all of them); answers are posted.

The ground rules: closed book; no calculators; paper is provided.

During exam week, my only office hour is Tuesday, 11-12.   Clint Givens will have a review session on Sunday, 2-4 pm, in MS 6229.   Our "virtual office hours" website is available 24/7.

The final exam can include any of the following:

• new problems, in the style of midterm problems
• old problems repeated from a midterm, possibly with changes
• old problems repeated from the homework, possibly with changes
• problems that involve stating definitions
• problems that involve giving an example
• other problems

Exam scores are posted on my.ucla.
Maximum possible = 100.
Mean = 62.6.
Median = 60.
