Some theoretical problems related to DNA sequences

Abstract:

Life is inherently related to DNA sequences, a linear sequence of 4 types of nucleotides (A, T, G, C). A huge amount of DNA sequence data is now available, from which one hopes to derive the laws governing the dynamics of life systems. We will discuss a few theoretical issues related to the property of DNA sequences. What makes a sequence capable of coding for amino acids? How is different one genome from another? What are laws governing the evolution of species? The discussion aims at revealing the fact that further development of life science would necessarily invite mathematicians and theoreticians to participate.
