Constructing Surfaces Arising from the Minkowski Problem

Abstract:

The Minkowski Problem is a natural problem arising from questions regarding surfaces and curvatures. It also makes an appearence in acoustic and electromagnetic scattering of waves off a convex body. The problem consists of finding a strictly convex, compact hypersurface given curvature information. Geometers and analysts have shown existence and uniqueness for the problem. We present here an algorithm based on a heat flow type PDE for constructing the surfaces.
