Text: Introduction to Topology, 2d edition, by T. Gamelin and R. Greene.

Grading: Homework 20%, midterm 20%, final 60%. No makeups. Exams are

closed book, no notes, no calculators.The midterm will be on Friday

Feb. 11. Homework will be due in class on Friday each week. The final

will be Thursday March 24 3-6 pm.

Outline: See the Math 121 outline on the General Course Information

section of the Courses section of the departmental home page. I don't

intend to cover sections 1.7 and 1.8. That will leave more time for

chapter 3 at the end of the course.

General: Any disruption of a class due to the audible beeping or use of

a cellphones or pagers will be treated as a violation of Section 102.13

of the UCLA Student Code and will subject a student to sanctions up to

and including suspension or dismissal.
