Text: Linear Algebra, 4th edition, by Friedberg, Insel and Spence.
Grading: Homework 15%, Midterm 20%, Final 65%.
No makeups. Exams are closed book, no notes, no calculators. The
midterm will be Wednesday February 9. Homework will be due in class
on Friday each week. The final is on Monday, March 21, 11.30 am - 2.30 pm.

General : Any disruption of a class due to the audible beeping or use of
cell phones or pagers will be treated as a violation of Section 102.13 of
the UCLA Student Code adn will subject a student to sanctions up  to
and including suspension.

About the class: Math 115A emphasizes proof more than lower division
classes do. Most test questions ( about 80%) will ask you to prove
something. You have to write out clear and convincing arguments. Be sure
that your arguments would convince a critical reader who did not already
know how to do the problem.
