Textbooks:1) M.Protter and Ch.Morrey,Jr. Intermediate Calculus, Chapters 3 and 6, Academic Publishing. 2)Stanley Grossman, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, Chapters 10 and 11, Thomson Learning. We shall cover sections 3.2-3.8, 3.15 and 6.1 of Protter and Morrey and sections 10.1-10.3, 10.4, 10.7, 10.9, 10.10, 10.11, 11.1, 11.2, 11.3 of Grossman.
There will be two midterms exam (during the fourth and eighth weeks of classes) and the final exam.
Grading
The grading policy:
1.Homework:10% of total grade, 2.Midterms:20% 3.Final exam:50%Alternative grading:
1.Homework:10% 2.Final exam:90%
I shall choose the best of these two alternatives. There will be no makeup exams. If the student misses one or two midterms the weight of the finalexam will increase accordingly. No calculators or notes are allowed during the exams.
Homeworks will be assigned on Fridays and will be collected the following Friday in the class.
