Notes
- This is the paper on The Split Bregman Method that I mentioned in section that gives an example of optimization problems in Image Processing.
- Here is a page with a cool video about solving the optimization problem of how to arrange your furniture. Make it Home: Automatic Optimization of Furniture Arrangement
- Here is an interesting page describing how the Simplex Method is used to match singles on an online dating site. Here is a TED Talk describing how OKCupid rates matches (these are the coefficients pi in the previous page).
Homework Related Material
- Homework 1 - section 4.1 in the book. I wrote a matlab code that plots the surface z = c*x over top of the feasible region given by the system Ax <= b. Here are two plots from 4.1.1 (ii) and 4.1.1 (iii) respectively:
- Homework 4 - Here is a pdf outlining the Simplex Algorithm, as well as the worked through example from section.
- Homework 4 - You can resubmit problem 6.1.3 for a regrade.
- Here are some partial solutions from HW 8
