Travel and Transportation
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is served by all major
airlines. It is approximately 30 miles from HRL Laboratories,
which is a 45 minute drive (half of it on the Pacific Coast
Highway), 15 miles (25 minutes) from most hotels in Santa
Monica, and about 40 miles (1 hour) from Calabasas.
You can either rent a car at LAX or take a shuttle
from the Airport to your hotel or HRL. Prices are about $40
to HRL, and $15-20 to Santa Monica (I don't know prices to
the Country Inn in Calabasas, but I guess it is also around
$40).
If you stay either in Calabasas or Santa Monica, you don't
really need to rent a car. There are several local workshop
participants who can pick you up (and take you back). If you
choose this option, please let me know, so that we can
coordinate rides. If you want a rental car, we can
reimburse all invited workshop participants.
We recommend to make your flight reservations as early as
possible. We will pay the airfare of all invited participants
up to $500.
