  • Syllabus and assignments:
    This class is the second part of the three-quarter graduate algebra sequence, whose official course description can be found here. Part B will cover some representation theory, as well as field and Galois theory.
  • Homework 1, due Wednesday January 21.
  • Homework 2, due Wednesday February 4.
  • Homework 3, due Friday February 27.

  • Literature:
  • We are roughly going to follow: Serge Lang, Algebra (revised 3rd Edition), Springer 2002. However the book is not required, attending lectures and taking notes should be sufficient.


  • Grading: There will be homework assignments, a midterm exam on Wednesday, February 11 and the final exam on Wednesday, March 18 at 8am. The grading scheme is: The better of homework 30%, midterm 20% and final 50%; or, final 100%..
