My teaching philosophy is to emphasize the basic concepts so that students understand the logic of mathematical thought instead of just viewing it as a natural science with empirically-derived results. I believe this is helpful for the students to gain a firm understanding of the subject and adapt their thinking to various non-standard situations that may occur. However, this leaves little time during classes to solve many examples. I relegate this task to my office hours.
