Analysis of Applied Dynamical Systems

Mentor: Dr. Cymra Haskell, USC

Dynamical systems arise in many settings in applied mathematics. The summer REU program is a microcosm of examples involving population dynamics, fluid mechanics, and human activity. This project will be a theoretical study of orbits in dynamical systems. Students will work on rigorous proofs of existence, uniqueness, and behavior of solutions. Matlab simulations will help provide guidance for the analysis.
