Exam Reimbursement Update (6/13/2010)

Hope your summers are off to a great start!

Earlier in the month, we sent out an email regarding exam reimbursement policies. Many of you had questions and we have recently heard back from the math department and would like clarify some details.

If you currently have the paperwork for an exam passed, you can still turn it in to Connie in the math department to receive partial reimbursement. However, P exams will no longer be reimbursed. For future exams, the amount of partial reimbursement may change depending on the department budget. Also, you must be a current student and club member when you turn in the reimbursement (not when you sat for the exam). If you turned in the paperwork before January 2010, you should expect a full reimbursement.

Lastly, we encourage that you turn in all the necessary paperwork as soon as you receive it. If the time lapse more than a month between the time of the test and the paperwork, you run the risk of not being reimbursed.

Actuarial Exam reimbursement (6/05/2010)

Due to the restricted budget, the math department will partially reimburse the fees subject to the following conditions:

(1) You must be a current BAS Member
(2) Reimbursement amount is as follows: $50 for P exam, $100 for FM exam, $150 for MFE or MLC exam and $200 for C exam
(3) This policy is in effect starting January 2010 (This is not referring to the date of the exam, but rather when you turned in the paperwork.)

The department is still processing the paperwork and you should expect a check in the mail by the end of this month.

Congratulations New Officers of 2010-2011 (5/30/10)

Binbin Xing - President
Shelly Huang - Vice President
Karen Liu - Corporate Liaison
Tina Luong - Treasurer
Luna Liu - Public Relations
Owen Meng - Media Director

- For professionalism and organization
- To improve and excel as a unit with our active members

That being said, we mentioned that the Career Fair on the 2nd will be open only to our 90 active members. If you are an active, you should have received a formal invitation to the Actuarial Career Fair. That should be an indicator of whether or not you will be admitted to the event. Any guests or non-active members will not be admitted due to the fairness of the program.

Our staff is currently doing our best to make it a mutually beneficial experience for our Members and Employers this year. We appreciate your constant support and understanding!

FM Manuals

The Math Department let us know that the FM manuals are on their way to UCLA Engineering Library. They should be available sometime next week AT the Engineering Library. We will let you know once these manuals arrive and update you on where you can check one out!

T-shirt Competition

Last time at the general meeting, we discussed designing t-shirts for our club this year. Whether you believe it should be dorky, nerdy, cool, or professional, it is now up to you guys to submit the design you think should go on our club t-shirt! There is only one requirement, we are limiting the colors on the shirt to three. As of now, the deadline for submission is set for Friday, October 30th. We will let you know the method of submission in a later email. This is a great way to participate in the club and win fabulous prizes. The winner of the contest will receive a $50 gift certificate plus an honorable picture on the club website!

Be sure to let us know if you have any further questions!

Exam P Seminar

There will be no Exam P seminar this quarter since we do not have enough time (the test is only a month away) and it is too late for us to look for instructors. We will begin the Exam P seminar next quarter and instructors are needed.

Good luck everyone!
