Text:  Linear Algebra with Applications 3E (Third Edition) by Otto Bretscher (we will cover most of chapters 1-3 and 5-8). 
The textbook will be available at the UCLA Bookstore.  Another potential option is AddAll.com.

Introduction to linear algebra: systems of linear equations, matrix algebra, linear independence, subspaces, bases and dimension,
orthogonality, least-squares methods, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, matrix diagonalization, and symmetric matrices.
