This major is designed for students with a substantial interest in mathematics and its application to a particular field, such as physics, biology, chemistry, and geography. Please check with the other department(s) to see if they restrict their upper division courses to their majors only.

If you are interested in designing an individual program, you should meet with an undergraduate advisor, in 6356 Math Sciences, during your sophomore year. The proposed program must be submitted to the Undergraduate Vice-Chair in MS 6356 for approval!

Students may not be admitted to the program if they have 135 or more units by the end of the term in which they plan to enter the program. Once a plan has been approved, courses cannot be substituted without prior written permission from the Mathematics Department.
