UCLA Cal Teach is now accepting applications for our Winter Quarter 2018 seminars and internships!

Right now, in the state of California, there is a huge shortage of qualified science and math teachers to teach middle and high school science and math. To address this issue, we offer UCLA undergraduate science, engineering and math majors the opportunity to explore teaching as a career to see if this is something that you might like to do in the future.

Specifically, we offer quarterly seminars and internships that allow UCLA students to go out to elementary, middle, and high schools to help out with science and math activities at the school, interact with kids, learn about teaching, and observe different teachers in action.

We are offering the following courses (with internships) for Winter 2018:

  1. Math 71SL (Elementary School, Math Focus) – 2 units, P/NP
  2. Math 72SL (Middle School, Math Focus) – 2 units, P/NP
  3. Science Education 1SL (Elementary School, Science Focus) – 2 units, P/NP
  4. Science Education 10SL (Middle School, Science Focus) – 2 units, P/NP
  5. Science Education 100SL (High School, Science Focus) – 5 units, grade

Each course is associated with a 2-4 hour per week internship at a local, public school (for a total of 24 hours over the quarter).
If you (or one of your friends) is interested in applying, please go to our web site to learn more about each course, and also to fill out the online application:
