Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty in all areas of Mathematics. Tenure-Track Position in Financial/Actuarial Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position. An applicant should make a stable commitment to provide intellectual leadership for UCLA’s evolving program in Financial/Actuarial Mathematics and those components of its Mathematics-Economics program that concern financial mathematics.  A suitable candidate need not be a credentialed actuary or a professional in financial mathematics, but a background of research and/or professional activity directly relating to these areas (broadly construed) would be helpful. 

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field. A competitive candidate should have a transformative research program and show excellence in undergraduate teaching and educational innovation. We give preference to applicants in areas of mathematics with a connection to any of the existing research groups at UCLA. We encourage applications from distinguished candidates at senior levels. Temporary Faculty Positions 

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for temporary and visiting appointments in the categories 1-5 below. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant area and should show evidence of excellence in teaching and research. Preference will be given to applicants whose research connects to faculty interests in the department.
Postdoctoral Positions:

(1) E.R. Hedrick Assistant Professorships: Appointments are for three years. The teaching load is four one-quarter courses per year.

(2) Computational and Applied Mathematics (CAM) Assistant Professorships: Appointments are for three years. The teaching load is normally reduced by research funding to two one-quarter courses per year. 

(3) Program in Computing (PIC) Assistant Adjunct Professorships: Applicants for these positions must show very strong promise in teaching and research in an area related to computing. The teaching load is four one-quarter programming courses each year and one additional course every two years. Initial appointments are for one year and possibly longer, up to a maximum service of four years.

(4) Assistant Adjunct Professorships and Research Postdocs: Appointments are normally for one year, with the possibility of renewal. Strong research and teaching background required. The teaching load for is six one-quarter courses per year.

(5) Assistant Adjunct Professorships with Specialization in Financial Instruction: Applicants for these positions must show interest and competence to teach financial and related mathematics, such as probability or statistics, at the upper-division undergraduate level. The teaching load depends on the qualification of the candidate and is four to six one-quarter courses per year. Initial appointments are for two years with a possible renewal up to a maximum of four years.
