K12 Outreach
The Curtis Center aims to provide high quality mathematics activity for students in local schools. We hope to provide students with a view of mathematics as a creative reasoning and problem solving activity, with intrinsic beauty and meaningful application. We also hope to encourage students to undertake futures linked with mathematics.

UCLA Mathematics Institute for Young Scholars
UCLA Mathematics Institute for Young Scholars: Summer 2009
The Curtis Center is pleased to offer the UCLA Mathematics Institute for Young Scholars in Summer 2009. The institute will be a five-week, day program for middle and high school students interested in mathematics under the direction of mathematical physicist Professor Lincoln Chayes. The Institute will consist of courses on topics outside the usual school curriculum. This year's courses will include probability and other topics to be announced. Students will attend course lectures taught by UCLA mathematics faculty, course problem solving sessions led by UCLA graduate students, and plenary seminars on a variety of topics. Students will also participate in a number of special outings, including a visit with undergraduate and industry researchers from around the world at the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics' Research in Industrial Projects for Students. For more information, continue to check this website and/or contact Heather Calahan at calahan@math.ucla.edu.
The Los Angeles Mathematics Circle
The Los Angeles Mathematics Circle
The LAMC is a group of middle and high school students that meets weekly to do and learn mathematics. University mathematicians and mathematics educators lead the sessions.

College Run College Run
Since 2004, the UCLA Math Programs for Teachers and Students has collaborated with College Run to offer students a chance to experience UCLA.
College Run is a summer program for under-represented middle and high school students intended to motivate them to attend four-year universities. Many students that participate in the program go on to attend prestigious four-year colleges, often times becoming the first in their families to attend college. UCLA’s MCPT attend hosts the College Run group on the UCLA campus, including teaching them in a mathematics workshop designed to positively influence their view of mathematics.

MDTP The UCLA Site of the Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project
The MDTP provides two on-line tests available for student use to help them prepare for Precalculus and Calculus level mathematic courses. The on-line multiple-choice tests were designed to help individual students review their readiness for some mathematics courses and may be useful in preparing for some mathematical placement tests used by some California colleges and universities.
Each on-line test includes a diagnostic scoring report to help students identify strengths and weaknesses in some topic areas. These 40 question multiple-choice tests should be taken without a calculator. The recommended time needed for taking each test is approximately one hour, but there is no enforced time limit. The online tests and resulting diagnostic report is provided at no charge.
