Logging in to your UNIX account

What is my "UNIX" account?
Everyone in the Math Department has a UNIX account, in which they can log in, and also send/receive mail. If you have never used your UNIX account, you may know that if you set up your mail program on Windows (like Eudora, or Outlook Express), you had to specify your 'mail' server. Mail is delivered to your UNIX account (e.g., to the server 'sonia', or 'redwood' or other similary named machines).

How do I log in to my UNIX account?
To log in to your UNIX account (from Windows), you either need to establish an X-Window session (if you already have it configured on your machine), or login through Secure Shell (SSH). To do the latter, go the following link:

Secure Shell

You will need to install Secure Shell first, in order to run it from your machine.
